Company Setup

For Peachtree versions 2012 and higher, ShipGear must be installed on the computer that runs Peachtree. ShipGear requires Peachtree to be open and connected to the company to process shipments using your company documents.

The first time you run ShipGear, you need to perform a few basic setup steps. These steps involve connecting ShipGear to your Peachtree company and linking to the carrier shipping software. ShipGear supports both UPS WorldShip® and FedEx Ship Manager®.

Before launching ShipGear, verify that Peachtree users are assigned the proper access rights. Users running Peachtree 2012 and higher only need limited access rights in order to run ShipGear. See Access Rights for more information.

  1. Exit the Peachtree program.

  2. Select Start > Programs > ShipGear > Exchange. You can also double-click the ShipGear shortcut on your desktop. The ShipGear icon displays in your system tray as ShipGear initializes.

  3. When ShipGear launches, a prompt appears saying that no companies exist.

  4. Click the My Companies button. Then, click Add Company.

  5. On the Add Company dialog, click Get Companies. ShipGear looks for company files on the Peachtree Server that is defined in the dialog. If your company file resides on a different server than the location shown, enter the Peachtree Server Name and click Get Companies.

Note : If you forgot to close Peachtree at the beginning of this process, you will need to close and then relaunch Peachtree now in order to grant ShipGear access to the company. You will see the dialog below. Wait for Peachtree to load, while keeping the Open a Company dialog box open.

If you click Cancel on this dialog, the next user to open Peachtree will be prompted for third party access. The user will need to click on ShipGear Exchange > Active Connection > Connect.

  7. Select "Always allow access" and click Connect on the Open a Company dialog to connect ShipGear to your company. This gives ShipGear permission to integrate its functionality with Peachtree to retrieve your company data.

  8. Check the "Remember this setting" check box and click Yes.

You can now add more companies, if desired. When adding multiple companies to ShipGear, or editing one of multiple companies, the Peachtree company you want to add or edit must be open.

Invoices

In order to process shipments against Invoices, the Peachtree Data Access password must be entered in ShipGear upon connection. See Prerequisites for more information.
